Best and Worst Celebrity Baby Name of the Year

With Hollywood's awards season in full swing, what better time to anoint the year's best and worst celebrity baby names? The stars got busy in 2013, giving birth to A-list offspring from Prince George of Cambridge to what some consider a bit of L.A. royalty - hello, Kimye's firstborn, North West!Did Kim win with her directional name choice?
To find out what moms across the country thought about the celebrity baby names of 2013, BabyCenter, the online pregnancy and parenting resource, asked more than 5,600 moms to vote for their favorite and least-favorite names.
Moms adore Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's baby name choice, Everly. The gorgeous couple's good taste landed them in first place for most-liked moniker. Also topping the list was Autumn James, daughter of Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brian Hallisay, as well as Noah, son of Michael Bublé and Luisana Lopilato. The fact that Noah is a favorite shouldn't surprise anyone; it was also one of the top 10 baby boy names of 2013!
Stars who went with "unique" baby names found themselves on the loser list. The least-favorite celeb baby name of the year was North, bestowed on the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. And while she may be one of America's sweethearts, Jessica Simpson (and fiancé Eric Johnson) made the least-favorite list for the second year in a row, this time with their son's name, Ace Knute. (Moms weren't fond of their choice of Maxwell for their daughter in 2012, either.)
Beloved Busy Philipps called her little cutie Cricket and landed in the number 2 spot for least-favorite star baby names. Moms didn't love the name Bear, chosen by Kate Winslet and Ned Rocknroll for their newborn. By the way, this isn't the first time moms have nixed the name Bear. It also capped the loser list in 2011, when Alicia Silverstone named her son Bear Blu.
It seems that weighing in on what celebs name their little ones is quite the all-American pastime. "Tracking celebrity baby names is a sport for American moms," says Linda Murray, BabyCenter's global editor-in-chief. "They love analyzing the baby name choices of famous parents and sharing their opinions. This year's survey results show moms favoring slightly quirky names and tried-and-true classics. But when celebs choose truly unusual names, they lose public support."

All Hail George
While the name George didn't crack the top five on either list (it came in seventh on the most-liked list), BabyCenter's recently released annual Baby Names Report found that Kate and Will's baby name choice is, in fact, influencing American naming trends: George is up 37 percent as a girl's name and 10 percent as a boy's name. Interestingly, U.K. mums aren't as enamored with the name. George took a surprising slide in popularity on BabyCentre U.K.'s 2013 list of popular baby names.
