Miley Cyrus performs Friday in Montpellier, France
Apparently, he really adores her.
Miley Cyrus was granted a temporary restraining order on Friday against Devon Meek, 24, an Arizona man who claims that she's communicating with him through the radio. Meek was previously arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department and placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold on May 16 after he was found near property that he believed was owned by Cyrus.
According to the restraining order, Meek "delusionally believes Cyrus communicates with him via her songs," and that she's "telling him to come to see her so that they may be together."
Medical experts at the facility currently holding Meek have said that he is persistent in his desire to meet Cyrus and that he will not give up in the pursuit of his delusions. He's told clinicians that when he's released from the facility, he won't stop seeking her out until Cyrus accepts him or he dies.
Miley claims in the order that she fears for her safety and believes there's a very real possibility she could be harmed in the future. She's also requested a concurrently filed civil harassment restraining order against Meek.
The order indicates that one of Meek's family members has confirmed that he has long suffered from mental illness and has consistently refused to take any medication. He adds that the family has tried to assist in getting him back to their home in Arizona for treatment, but that he has refused their help.
The court has set a hearing date for June 16 to make the restraining order permanent for a three-year term.
Cyrus is currently in the midst of the European leg of her Bangerz world tour. She played Friday in Montpellier, France, and is scheduled to play Saturday in Lyon.
