See Emily Maynard's 4 — Yes, 4! — New Engagement Rings

Emily Maynard's fiancé took the whole "put a ring on it" thing to a new level.

The one-time "Bachelorette," 27, finally confirmed her engagement in a blog post on her website on Friday and shared a snapshot of the four rings Tyler Johnson proposed with. One band features large emerald cut diamonds while the other three are thinner, less flashy bands also with diamonds and a few, what appear to be, sapphires sprinkled in.

Coincidentally, these fours rings are for Maynard's fourthengagement. And because of that, the single mom explained in her blog, "I told him I didn't want a traditional engagement ring and that I just wanted some simple bands."

She added that Johnson went "above and beyond to say the least" with his decision to buy four — as well as another one for her 8-year-old daughter, Ricki. "They couldn't be more 'me.' I got a good one," she gushed.

So four rings for an engagement — does that mean all the men (and women!) out there who are ready to propose need to start stepping up their game… and draining their savings accounts?! Not exactly, says wedding expert Harmony Walton.

"There does seem to be a slight trend towards needing to outdo the previous engagement or wedding when this is not the first for the bride," says The Bridal Bar founder, who helped planned weddings for celebrities including Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. "Just look at the Kimye wedding: all signs point to this one being bigger than the last, which was bigger than the one before that."

But making the engagement different than the last one doesn't mean you have to go broke.

"No one needs four engagement rings, but they do need to feel that this commitment is incredibly real, special, and important, regardless of the person's past," says Walton. "In Emily's case, since this is the fourth, they probably felt the need not only to go bigger, but more so differentiate themselves and to set this engagement apart. Four bands certainly does that."

Also, she noted, age can play a factor when it comes to these types of decisions.

"Typically rings tend to increase in size with the number of engagements, in part simply because people age and make more money and purchase nicer jewelry," she says. "Plus, the next guy never wants to be overshadowed by the last."

Before Johnson, who is a management consultant Maynard met through her Charlotte, North Carolina, church, those guys were Jef Holm on "The Bachelorette," Brad Womack on "The Bachelor," and the late race car driver Ricky Hendrick, who died in a plane crash when Maynard was just 18.

Maynard also made fun of her own romance track record in her blog post, noting that she knew some "Debbie Downers" would say, "'Again?!'" but she noted this time it's the "real deal. I promise." And she shared that she met Johnson, who proposed at home on Jan. 4., several years ago but he was so "good looking" that she was too nervous to even talk to him.

Fast forward a few years and now she's wearing his ring. Make that: rings.
