Oscars 2014 Red Carpet Arrivals

Brad Pitt, 50, and Angelina Jolie, 38, were dressed quite appropriately for their role as Hollywood’s golden couple. He was suave in a classic, sleek black suit, while she shimmered in a gauzy gown by Elie Saab that was notably without a high slit

The question wasn't whether the fashionable Best Supporting Actress nominee Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years a Slave") would stun at the Oscars, but which designer she would be wearing! Prada was the lucky label. The 31-year-old was beautiful as always in a light blue, custom Grecian-style design from the label paired with a pretty headband.

Jennifer Lawrence continued along her Christian Dior path for the Oscars in this stunning red dress reminiscent of her scarlet Calvin Klein number from the 2011 ceremony. The Best Supporting Actress nominee, 23, also rocked a necklace worn long in the back, much like she sported to the event last year. But those weren't the only throwbacks spotted in her look; she also took quite a tumble — much like she did after winning Best Actress last year — but good-naturedly laughed it off as usual.

Amy Adams, who has said she's gotten used to wearing sexy looks thanks to her "American Hustle" character's daring wardrobe, told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet that she felt more like herself in the gown she picked for the Oscars versus the rest of the ensembles she's worn throughout awards season. The Best Actress nominee, 39, was sophisticated in a custom Gucci sapphire silk crepe tuxedo-inspired gown featuring a fitted bodice, which she topped off with an updo and Tiffany jewels. While we have definitely enjoyed seeing her have fun with fashion over the past few months, we're happy Amy is going to be comfortable on her big night.

Expectant actress Olivia Wilde, 29, was gorgeous in a high-necked Valentino number as she arrived at the Academy Awards with her husband-to-be, Jason Sudeikis, who was outfitted in Prada, for the fancy fete. Wilde joked on Twitter last month that she felt like Homer Simpson at her Oscar dress fitting, but the resulting look was quite lovely.
