'She has no mental illness whatsoever': Amanda Bynes' mother says star has 'never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar'

Amanda Bynes has been doing well since her mother took over her life in July after a string of bizarre incidents involving the She's The Man actress.
There have been many reports that the former child star had mental health issues, but on Wednesday her mother insisted this was not the case and blamed Amanda's breakdown last year on smoking marijuana.
Lynne Bynes told E! News: 'Amanda has no mental illness whatsoever. She has never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar.'

Amanda hit the headlines for a DUI, tweeting bizarre messages and insults at people and finally setting a Los Angeles driveway on fire last year.
She was hospitalised soon afterwards and put under the care of her parents.
Blaming all of the troubles on pot, Lynn added that Amanda 'is very sorry for all the hurtful tweets, statements and actions that occurred while she was under the influence of marijuana'.
On the same day, Amanda's lawyer also insisted she does not have a mental illness, telling Peoplemagazine.
'Amanda does not have schizophrenia,' claimed the 28-year-old's attorney Tamar Arminak, neglecting to detail exactly what has ailed the beauty.
It's been widely reported the former child star has bi-polar disorder but he did not address this like Amanda's mother did.
Arminak said Bynes is not on any drugs of any kind. 'Amanda currently is on zero medication,' he insistd. 'She's devoted to living her life as healthy as possible.'
The former child star is also not taking any recreational drugs. 'She's proud to say she's been marijuana free for the past nine months,' he explained.

But the lawyer pointed out she was never had a substance abuse problem. 'She's never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs,' he said.
Instead the She's All That actress has been talking out her troubles.
'Amanda continues to undergo outpatient therapy several times a week,' he added. 'She is doing extremely well.'
Bynes displayed some very odd behavior in early 2013, often wearing different wigs and even getting her cheeks pierced. Her tweets were often disturbing; in one she crudely relayed her amorous feelings for singer Drake.
By July she was found setting an LA driveway on fire. Soon after she was involuntarily hospitalised.
The California resident - who has been living with her parents since the summer - has been taking classes at the Fashion Institute Of Design And Merchandise since January

'She hopes to one day design her own line,' said the attorney. 'Her primary focus is binding with her family and being a fashion student.'
The Easy A actress looked happy and healthy when she spent 10 days in Cabo, Mexico in early April.
Showing off a trim figure in a neon green bikini and smiling for selfies, the former teen favorite seemed to be back to her upbeat ways.
