Sometimes you just have to laugh. Jennifer Aniston proved she still has a pretty good sense of humor about herself when she interviewed Gloria Steinem on Monday, Feb. 10 -- the eve of her 45th birthday -- at the Makers Conference in Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.
At one point during their chat, which covered everything from body image to feminism to what Steinem carries in her purse, the Horrible Bosses 2 actress referenced fans' ever-present obsession with her love life. (Though she's been engaged to actor Justin Theroux for more than a year now, her marriage to ex-husband Brad Pitt -- now engaged himself to Angelina Jolie -- still makes headlines.)
"The public has a great interest in our personal lives," the star is quoted as saying by HuffPost Women. "I know you've come up against this -- and I certainly have, too -- where being a woman, our value and our worth is basically associated with our marital status or whether or not we have procreated."
"Well, I guess we're in deep s--t," the widowed Steinem quipped. (The iconic activist, who never bore children of her own, was married to Christian Bale's father, David Bale, from 2000 to 2003, when he died of brain lymphoma at age 62.)
"That's what I thought," Aniston joked back. "Just wanted to make sure that was the case. That we are, in fact, in deep s--t."
Aniston's chat with Steinem was just one of many events at the first-ever Makers Conference. Other speakers included Geena Davis, Martha Stewart, Chelsea Handler, Sheryl Sandberg, and Gabrielle Giffords.
