5 Surprising Facts About Shakira and Her New Album

Target and Clear Channel will be co-hosting Shakira's album release party at the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank, California, on Monday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

The performance, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, will celebrate her highly anticipated self-titled set, which includes the hit "Can't Remember to Forget You" and will be released the following day.

As Shakira gears up to release her highly anticipated 10th studio album, simply titled "Shakira.," we went to the trouble of compiling some tidbits about the Colombian superstar and her new record guaranteed to surprise you.
Shakira's go-to stress-relievers are green juice and Kraft Caramels.
Other pop stars turn to professional massages or yoga sessions to calm down, but this busy 37-year-old mother, recording artist, and "Voice" coach turns to an odd (but delicious!) combo of nice-and-naughty snacks to relieve the pressures of superstar life.
Shakira has written or co-written all of her own songs… until now.
For the first time since she started releasing records more than two decades ago, Shakira has employed hired guns to write songs on her eponymous forthcoming album. Her competing duties as a judge on "The Voice"and a new mother caused her to delegate some of the songwriting responsibilities to pros who have written for the likes of Katy Perry and Pitbull.
Shakira's new tune, "23," is a love song for her babydaddy.
Shakira's new guitar-based "23" was written for the father of her child — Spanish soccer star Gerard Piqué — whom she met four years ago, when he was just 23 (she's 10 years his senior). The song's über-romantic lyrics imply that the couple was destined to be together: "Hey, do you believe in destiny?/'Cause I do as I did then/When you were only 23." The track ends with a giggle from their 1-year-old son, Milan.
The Colombian superstar is basically a genius.
Shakira speaks five languages — Spanish, English, Italian, Arabic, and Portuguese — has delivered speeches at Harvard and Oxford, and has worked with President Obama on a committee to improve educational opportunities for Latinos in the United States. She's also a UNICEF ambassador, and she co-founded two non-profit organizations — the Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) Foundation and the ALAS Foundation — dedicated to providing education and nutrition for children in impoverished areas.
Shakira's boyfriend advocates steamy scenes with... women.
Rihanna was reportedly the only person Shakira's protective lover, Piqué, would allow her to do a steamy video shoot with for her new album. "He's very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women," Shakira told Billboard with a laugh. The provocative video for the pop stars' duet, "Can't Remember to Forget You," features Shakira and RiRi stroking each other and smoking cigars in bed. Not surprisingly, the sexy clip has amassed more than 150 million views to date.
