Keyshia Cole Adopts Angry 'Rick James' Persona on New Ballad

Rick James is probably turning over in his grave, approving of Keyshia Cole's new woman scored hip-hop ballad named in his honor.

On the song from Keyshia's forthcoming album "Love Letter," the Oakland native spews venom with the air of the late funk, soul legend.

"Yeah bitch, I'm Rick James," she sings on the year's most infectious chorus, reprising a popular phrase from Dave Chappelle's impersonation of the "Super Freak" singer.

Her angst-filled, slow-paced delivery continues, "Cold blooded, I'm Rick James. Slap a bitch like Rick James." Then she props her feet on his couch and dares him to complain.

Juicy J warned listeners that Keyshia was on the warpath, opening the song saying, "When a woman's fed up, you better watch out," over a synth styling of the gospel organs that intro Prince's "Purple Rain." The main track is as funky as any Too $hort or E-40 beat.

In Juicy's rap verse, he notes that her man wouldn't dare challenge the girl he describes as "mo' cut throat than razor."

Daniel Gibson, Keyshia's estranged husband and former Cleveland Cavaliers player, responded to speculation that the song is about him.

."I want it all that's what I strive for .. Diss me & you'll never hear a reply for it. #Gang," he wrote in a post on hisInstagram page

Daniel and Keyshia wed in May 2011 and have a four year old son, Daniel Hiram Gibson, Jr.

Keyshia released her last album, "Woman to Woman" in 2012.
