Dolly Parton’s Namesake Lost Dog Finds a Happy Ending

Dolly Parton

The lost dog Dolly Parton nearly took home as a souvenir from the Glastonbury Festival is going home. The little white dog, dubbed Dolly Parton, was found during the fest and named after the country music legend. Happy Landings Animal Shelter in Somerset, England had been taking care of the pup while they searched for the owners. Parton vowed to take the dog herself if no one claimed her, but the owners have since been found. “We got a call that the true owners did come forward,” Parton tells Rolling Stone.

“They had reported the dog missing but there was a language barrier. I think they were from another country. They got the dog back, everybody feels good about it. The Happy Landings shelter has a happy ending now.” Parton was even making plans just in case she had to adopt a new furry friend, and her first order of business was changing the dog’s name (we can imagine having two Dollys in one house could get confusing). “I was gonna rename her ‘Glassie’ because of Glastonbury… I was gonna say, ‘Glassie come home,’” the singer explains, referencing ‘Lassie Come Home.’

“I would’ve called her ‘Glassie Doggie Parton.’” Parton is keeping herself busy, even without Glassie Doggie Parton. She’s wrapping up the Blue Smoke Tour, taking a little break and then jumping right into work. She may even get back on the big screen. “I may possibly do some television and some producing,” she says. “I do hope to do more movies. I’m not opposed to it. But only if I get good scripts.”
