Lea Michele and her new beau, Matthew Paetz, at LAX on Tuesday.
The Glee star, who has been linked to Matthew Paetz since spring, wasn't hiding her new romance away as the pair walked hand in hand through Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday. The 27-year-old, outfitted head to toe in black, gave a shy smile as she led the self-proclaimed dating and lifestyles coach through the bustling hub.
Three days earlier, things between the pair were even more intimate. On Saturday, they were photographed sharing a kiss while having lunch outdoors at the Soho House in West Hollywood. According to source, they then headed to Montecito, California, where they — along with several of Michele's pals — marked the first anniversary of Monteith's passing during a weekend getaway at San Ysidro Ranch.
If Michele looks comfortable with her handsome new beau, that's because she's been spending a lot of time with him. She reportedly met Paetz, who's also an aspiring model and actor, on the set of the music video for her single "On My Way" in April and they immediately hit it off. Since then they've been spotted all over, including on a sweet park stroll and at a friend's private house party.
A report from TMZ in June that Paetz is a former gigolo hasn't derailed the romance, nor has Michele spoken publicly about him or his occupation.
Michele's new relationship is a welcome distraction in her life after the sudden death of her boyfriend and Glee co-star due to a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol a year ago. On Sunday, while in Santa Barbara on that weekend getaway with Paetz and friends, she posted throwback photos of herself with Monteith together on a beach vacation. She wrote, "We hold you in our hearts today, and every day we remember your smile. We will love you and miss you always."
Only time will tell where things go between Michele and Paetz, but she seems to be taking it one step at a time. "You can literally lose yourself if you don't actually die from it," she said to Ellen DeGeneres last year while discussing the grieving process. "[Cory] would want me to live my life."
And it's nice to see her doing just that.
