Sofia Vergara's Having the Worst Hair Day Ever

What a difference a day makes — and by "day" we mean a blow dryer and a mirror. On Thursday, the usually primped-to-perfection Sofia Vergara stepped out in Beverly Hills looking extremely disheveled.

True, she was dressed this way while filming a scene of Modern Family (storyline yet unknown), but it's still rather shocking.

Both in real life and as Gloria Pritchett, Vergara, 42, favors skintight ensembles and glamorous makeup. Here, however, she was snapped sporting a baggy gray t-shirt and oversized gray sweatpants with an olive green sweatshirt tied around her waist. While her curves still show despite the loose clothing, you can also see why, in general, supportive undergarments are typically an essential part of her wardrobe.

Her hair and makeup styling was no better, consisting of bushy eyebrows, a smear of dark red lipstick, and a nest of tangled locks. In other words, we've never seen her like this before — and we'll probably never see her like this again.

After all, this is a woman who, just days after revealing that she and her fiancé had split, went on a New Orleans swamp tour looking ready for a beauty pageant. How she kept her golden tresses perfectly smooth and her makeup from melting off her face despite the heat and humidity is beyond us, but it's safe to say she knows a few secrets the rest of us don't.

It's probably worth mentioning, however, that despite the fact that she was essentially dressed like a crazy person, Sofia seemed to be having a great time on set. She was snapped laughing it up with her TV hubby, Ed O'Neill (though he looks decidedly less amused).

We can't help but note that even though the styling teams did their best to make Sofia look hideous, it's still somehow obvious that she's actually drop-dead gorgeous. Sigh.

Perhaps we'll find out what led to this disasterous look when Modern Family's new season premieres on Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
