There's a clown on the Grammys red carpet. We're sorry if this image causes you nightmares.
Oh, but wait. It's just one of the co-founders of Grammy-winning metal band Slipknot... no need for concern!

As rock fans well know, Shawn Crahan (who actually goes by the name "Clown" on stage) has considered a clown mask part of a proper going-out ensemble since the late '90s. So, it's no real surprise that the drummer showed up in the freaky get-up, although he frightened a few folks not familiar with his band's signature look.
Crahan escorted both his wife of nearly 22 years, Chantel, and one of their daughters down the carpet. Both of the ladies chose to go mask-free.
At any rate, Crahan, 44, and his bandmates aren't afraid of controversy or attracting attention. Slipknot calls its fans "maggots," change up its scary trademark masks from album release to album release, and has had to defend contoversial lyrics that have been linked to everything from murders to grave robberies. Slipknot has been nominated for six Grammy Awards and won Best Metal Performance in 2006 for the song "Before I Forget."
