Scarlett Johansson buys a home in the Hamptons

Photos: Scarlett Johansson's new Hamptons home

Sounds like Scarlett Johansson could use a nice retreat right about now. Luckily, she reportedly just bought this lovely and "very private" home in the Hamptons on New York's Long Island.

The Amagansett Dunes home is on Shipwreck Drive (nice street name for a Siren like ScarJo) and touches the Peconic Land Trust, according to the New York Post.

As Hamptons mansions go, this one is lovely without being too-too. It's certainly fancier than the modest single-girl condo on Hollywood Boulevard that she only recently sold. And while it's bigger than the gorgeous midcentury love nest in L.A.'s Los Feliz neighborhood that she shared with then-hubby Ryan Reynolds, it's also about a third cheaper, assuming she paid close to the $2.2 million asking price on the Hamptons house. She and Reynolds sold the Los Feliz home for $3.5 million.

Each of the Hamptons home's four bedrooms is en suite with its own balcony. The house sits on "1.4 very private acres," according to the Douglas Elliman Real Estate listing, and features "endless decking." Lest you fear this is merely a summer spot, the listing promises that it's "one very relaxed retreat during any season," with a "handsome stucco double fireplace that is especially useful during long winter weekends."

"One very relaxed retreat" is probably just the thing for Johansson right now. The ad she recently did for SodaStream, below, was rejected for Super Bowl broadcast:

A censored version -- omitting the names of Coke and Pepsi -- will instead air during the (*cough* partly Pepsi-sponsored *cough*) Super Bowl.

Johansson's affiliation with SodaStream, an Israeli company that operates in the occupied West Bank, got her into hot seltzer with Oxfam, a human rights organization that opposes trade from Israeli settlements. She resigned as Oxfam ambassador over the SodaStream hubbub.
